We were once Mac Supported London. I chose that name because it contained all the keywords people might use to search for our service: Mac, Support, and London. But, it was a mouthful and, having to tell people over and over, “It’s Mac SupportED London”.. it became apparent that it wasn’t memorable. Also, long domain names just aint cool. Time was it was acceptable to stuff a domain with keywords, and end up with somethingridiculouslylong.com. Now, you can create a word that doesn’t exist and, as long as it’s short and memorable, it’s favourable.
So, we are now MacThing.co.uk, which I arrived at because the domain was available, it’s short, memorable, and I like it. There’s a slight problem in that, if you Google ‘macthing’, Google thinks it’s a typo, and that you’re actually looking for ‘matching’. Maybe, over time, Google will recognise Mac Thing, and assume anyone searching for ‘matching’ is actually looking for ‘MacThing’.
Also, we’re moving away from the term, support. Excuse the cliché, but: we feel that what we do is so much more (Is that a cliché? It sounds like one..) . There’s no getting away from the fact that, what we provide has always been known in the industry as ‘Technical Support’, and we do support people in times of technical need. But, a friend summed it up nicely in saying that it sounds like some sort of medical appliance, and that most people’s experience of ‘Technical Support’ is usually a negative one.
Like all technical support services, we aim to get the job done quickly and efficiently. But, as a small company, we get to know our customers and can provide an around-the-clock service that’s tailored to suit you.
So, for future reference, remember, Enquiries @ Mac Thing . CO . UK. And when your technical problems mount up, and you don’t have the time to sort them out yourself, just make a list, and drop us a line.
